Paula's Choice Skincare - My saviour

Hi everyone,

I wanted to quickly tell you all this.  I recently came down with a horrible chest infection.  To say I was congested is an understatement.
Now we all know that when we have a cold or flu and constantly blowing our noses, our skin becomes dehydrated and the skin around our nose becomes red raw and starts to peel.
That never happened to me!  By using my Paula's Choice skincare regime and using a face mask once I didn't get any of that awful dryness once I recovered.

 My regime being the following:
Calm Redness Relief Moisturizer for Normal to Dry Skin - morning and night
Resist C15 Super Booster - morning
RESIST Moisture Renewal Oil Booster - morning and night
RADIANCE Renewal Mask - night (once only)

Please understand I am in no way paid to review these products.  I buy these based on others recommendations and I cannot tell you how happy I am.

I am so impressed with how well they worked whislt I was sick, people actually questioned whether I actually was!  Until I opened my mouth and started to speak.  Then they knew.....no not pretty.

But have made a full recovery and ready to get on with it!

Until next time please stay well and healthy!

L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara revisited

Hi everyone,

Yes it's been a while hasn't it?  Spring has sprung here in Australia which brings crazy weather and hay fever!  Achoo, yes bless all of us.

This is going to be a quick one.  I've recently started re-using L'Oreal's Telescopic Mascara again.  Ladies, (and gentlemen) I can tell it's one brilliant mascara.  I'm not even sure why I stopped using it!  Lengthens (and then some), Volumises and fans your lashes out.

So in a nutshell, it's value for money, separates beautifully, lengthens everything you have and doesn't clump or dry out.  I really like it and will definitely repurchase.

Well that's all folks.

Until next time,

Margaret Panna

Amy Jean Eye Couture Consult

Hello everyone,

Ok so everyone knows that great brows can have such an amazingly positive impact on one's face.  Great brows frame the face, can make you look softer, more youthful and require much less make up product to get looking your best!

I'm always on the lookout for new products or services to help enhance us.  I was put onto Amy Jean Eye Couture http://www.amyjean.com.au by a friend who had been through chemotherapy and was looking for brow products.

I found Amy Jean on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/AmyJeanEyeCouture/ and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/amyjeaneyecouture/.  I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the results from their posts.  The befores and afters are nothing short of astonishing!  Giving hope to women who have been through tough health issues, ones who overplucked (those of you who lived through the 70's) and those who just were born a little "thin" in the brow area.  Amy Jean offers a technique of eyebrow tattooing called Feather Touch Brow Tattoo.  It's not like the traditional style of tattooing.  Instead of one full straight block colour as per traditional tattooing, Amy Jeans consultants tattoo fine, soft lines to emulate hairs.  Giving a more realistic look than a block colour.  They also offer Brow Sculpting, Cosmetic Tattooing and Lash Lift.

So of course I needed to research this myself.  I checked their website which gives a bio on Amy Jean and also all the services that are provided.  I made an appointment for a consultation in Melbourne with Shea.  I went into their salon feeling a little apprehensive.  There was no need.  They were so lovely!  From the moment I stepped in I felt comfortable.  Shea was a beautiful lady who was so informative and professional.  After an initial look and chat Shea advised that I don't go ahead with the feather touch brow tattooing.  Luckily my brows are still relatively full.  A little patchy in areas but nothing a good brow pencil/powder or pomade can't fix (highly recommend Anastasia Beverley Hills brow pomade!). Getting them done now, I wouldn't be getting value for the procedure.  Perhaps in another 10 years when I'm much older and greyer.  Not so far away I think!

Shea let me ask loads of questions.  Which is always a good sign for me.  After all it is quite a large outlay and I wanted to know exactly how it would work.  Also within the consultation you receive a brow tint of which I was very grateful!  Shea gave me loads of information about the procedure and also of their other services available.

I can tell you I've never had a more positive experience.  Generally when I have a consultation I'm always being upsold to.  I understand how that works as people are running a business.  But I also appreciate that I wasn't seen as $$ but as a real person who was willing to outlay a fairly large investment and advised accordingly.  I would highly recommend that if anyone is thinking of getting their brows tattooed to go and get a consultation with Amy Jean Eye Couture.  I'm not aware of anyone else offering this type of technique.  But if you are please let me know!  Amy Jean salons are in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast and Brisbane.  There is a fee for the consultation but I think given the information I received well worth the investment.

Shea also mentioned that they will be getting an updated procedure for brows very soon.  The name of the procedure escapes me right now but if you go in ask!

Good luck and if you go and get a procedure let me know!  I'd love to hear about your experience.

Until next time

Margaret

Limited Edition Your IT Girl® Lips! IT’S YOUR FLAWLESS RED LIP!

Hi everyone,

As mentioned in my previous post I've been wandering around Sephora in Melbourne a little bit.  I came across IT Cosmetics It's Your Flawless Red Lip pack.  And being the red lippie lover since I was 14 I thought I'm going to give this one a try!

According to the packaging IT claims the following:

Experience the gift of youthful vitality with your perfect red lips that last! This limited-edition, 2-piece set includes your cutting-edge Blurred Lines™ Smooth-Fill Lipstick in IT Girl™ and a bonus Travel-Size YLBB™ Your Lips But Better Waterproof Lip Liner Stain in Cherry Flush. While Blurred Lines™ lipstick drenches your lips in rich color, lip-smoothing collagen and hydrolyzed filling spheres, the creamy YLBB™ lip liner enhances your lipstick and locks it in place with budge-proof definition."

Tried it on a "work" day when lipstick usually doesn't last very long, due to various activities such as drinking, eating, biting one's lip etc...
When I first applied the red lip liner I wasn't that impressed with the colour.  But it did go on quite smoothly.  I filled in my whole lip with the lip liner (as I always do for colour longevity).  I then put a coat of the lip stick which was also very smooth and hydrating.  A little odd for me as I always wear matt to very matt red lipsticks.
Again I wasn't a massive fan of the colour as I am used to wearing blue based reds and this was a little too orange for my liking.  Unfortunately there is no choice in terms of colour.  The lipstick didn't last very long and the liner had created as slight stain but it was not waterproof as it is claimed.

The lipstick and liner did feather outside my lip line. Not a great look for red lips and certainly not the look I'm after.  I like a clean, neat finish on my red lips.  The lipstick felt very nice on and this product would be great for someone who is medium to olive skin toned and who just wants a wash or stain of colour rather than a full red "vintage" lip.

Not a huge fan but then it doesn't cost the world either.  RRP around $24 AUD and you're also getting the lip liner.

Final call?  Not a huge fan of it given my preferences for red lipstick.  I don't think it's exactly what it claims (waterproof) and there are other waterproof lip liners available that actually don't budge.  Given the choice I probably would not have bought it but as mentioned I am a sucker for a red lipstick!

Until next time take care of yourselves

Sephora - Melbourne, Sydney

Hello everyone,

It's been a very long time.  Just thought I'd put out a very short post about Sephora in Australia.

I had been to the Sydney Store a couple of times before the Melbourne one opened in November of 2015.  My experience was ok.  It's very busy of course and the staff quite friendly and open.  Not super knowledgeable but then enough to know a little about almost everything.

As for the Melbourne store, having had a little more time to wander around I wasn't that impressed with the product range.  It's a shame that we now have another competitor in Australia who isn't really able to compete in the Australian market properly.  My initial reaction was great!, we have another large store in the marketplace to compete and finally give a decent price change for the Australian market.  Everyone knows that here in Australia cosmetics are so hideously expensive that when news of Sephora coming was welcomed with open arms.  Unfortunately we have been given another raw deal.

Yes Sephora provides us with products we normally wouldn't have access which is wonderful, but due to restrictions they are unable to compete on price with products that already exist in the Australian market place.  Go figure!

All in all it's still worth a visit.  Sephora provides a good range although restricted.  The travel size items are excellent and make great stocking fillers!  The Sephora brand range is very good and worth a try.  Not too expensive and quite good for it's price point.  I'm looking to try the new cushion foundation and will give a review on that as soon as I give it a try.

Until then take care of your skin and yourselves.

Margaret
